Seeking the Goddess Within

Many girls (and women) struggle to accept their body and embrace all that is great about it. Instead they look in the mirror and see only what they dislike. My years of experience observing women of all ages as they peer at themselves in a mirror, tugging on hems, poking at thighs, moaning about non existent waistlines has taught me a thing or two about the female form and about just how self critical we are.

For our blog's sake, lets over simplify things and filter the majority of women down to two main groups because in my humble opinion most women share characteristics that lean toward one group or the other.

A) Rectangular. She possesses relatively long legs and arms, average to broad shoulders and a relatively short torso.

B) Curvy. She has small shoulders, smaller bust, small waist, longer torso and round hips and thighs.

Regardless of how the style experts (of which I am not one), try to categorise a woman's shape, at the end of the day the most important thing is to identify your own strengths and learn how to dress to make the most of them. If you are blessed with a small waist, show it off and be proud, the short waisted women of the world are jealous of you. If you have long legs and great ankles, put on a sexy heel and get them out for the world to appreciate. Learn to overlook the less than perfect bits and love the assets.

That does not mean, however, that you should wear the shortest pair of shorts or the miniest mini dress you can get your hands on. That is unless you are 17 years old...but under no other circumstances, do you hear?! Skimpy, high waisted distressed denim shorts, even if they are the hottest summer trend are definitely not a good look on the average 40 year old woman, I don't care how hot your body is. Harsh but true ladies, take heed.

If you are still struggling to accept the reflection that greets you every morning even after my well meaning advice then try this. Stare at this image for 5 minutes, close your eyes and the next time you look in the mirror you will be transformed into the other worldly being that you really are on the inside....let me know if it works :)

  2. You have a point :) I think that Elle might be one of the few women who could pull it off and still ooze style and class. The reality is that most of us mere mortals don't possess the genetic superiority that Elle inherited. When they isolate 'the body' gene I would like to be reincarnated with it thanks very much!
