A group of prominent local designers are working together to create Byron's newest showcase of fashion for Friday October 2nd. The event highlights the talent and range of local designers, as well as creating the opportunity for those attending to place their orders for the next season's collection.
A framework is needed to support sectors of the Northern Rivers creative industries. With this in mind, Byron Community Centre is fostering a new Events Incubator programme for the region which aims to help professionals work together in order to create community events which serve as a platform for their field. Byron's Fashion Expose at the Community Centre is shaping up to be one of the highlight events of 2009. With over 30 models and more than 10 designers plus heaps of extra entertainment, this is truly an event not be missed! Kicking off the show will be local icon Astroboy. Having lived and danced in Byron for 15 years, Astroboy has established a unique reputation for his inspirational style of performance art. Using mirrored and reflective outfits, he inspires and enlivens the audience with his innate energy. When asked what he'd like to put across when he performs, Astro said ‘inspiration to people to be comfortable with what they are and to express themselves'.
Also on the bill between the fashion elements are Mahina Mermaid and two Circus Arts acts, acro-balance duo Bonnie Ayers and Eliza Mattocks plus Stephanie Mitchell will join the girls to present an enchanting act on silks. In addition the audience will be treated to an exclusive sneak preview of Mahina Mermaid's unique and functional Ocean Tail design. Her Oceanika Tale creations feature mermaid, dolphin and whale tails, for boys and girls. The Oceanika range will be officially launched and available in 2010, see it first at Voyeur on Friday 2 October!
Sadly for those without tickets the show is already sold out. There will be a next time so be prepared.
