Festival photography by Kirra Cheers. Source Common Ground Byron.
The 22nd annual Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival is now officially over but we are still partying! Six days of excellent music, buzzing happy people and the odd bit of traffic chaos has come to an end as all good things eventually do and it is back to work for the masses for another year.
Working the whole time wasn't all bad as we played our guessing game trying to work out who was who as the odd famous (and notable by association) person slipped in and out for a quiet late afternoon shop while the hordes of punters were settling in for a big night at the festival site.Very sneaky!
So we didn't feel like we were missing out we started our own fun, innocently enough at first but our little game kind of grew into a bit of a passing attraction as the day progressed. I asked people to share their festival highlights and gave them a chalk marker and free reign on the mirror by the door. The mirror filled within an hour and we moved on to the shop window. I discovered that everyone, no matter their age suppresses a secret urge to create graffiti. After the first couple of messages passers by joined in the party without the need for an invitation. If you look closely there are a couple autographs in there too...
